Four new recalls by GM will be conducted. The recall campaigns cover more than 506,800 vehicles. Overall 428,211 vehicles are affected in the US., more than 57,700 in Canada and over 20,900 in other countries.
Let us start with model-years 2013-2014 Chevrolet Cruze recall. Affected are nearly 29,000 vehicles in the United States and more than 4,000 in Canada. The problem with these vehicles is that they may have a faulty airbag inflator that may rupture during airbag deployment. If this happens, shrapnel may be thrown into the cabin, injuring the occupants.
Another recall campaign involves four-wheel-drive versions of Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra vehicles both from 2014-2015 model-years and Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Yukon and Yukon XL models from 2015 model-year. This is the largest recall campaign of all four, involving nearly 392,459 vehicles in the United States, 53,607 in Canada and more than 20,000 in other countries. The problem, according to the automaker, lies in the fact that the transfer case may switch to neutral position without driver input. If this happens, when the vehicle is parked and the parking brake is not set, then it may roll away suddenly.
In its third recall campaign nearly 4,794 vehicles are affected. The problem this time is connected with the faulty motor gear teeth that may result in wipers malfunctioning. Involved in this recall are model-years 2013-2014 Chevrolet Caprice police vehicles and SS sedans.
The last and the smallest recall affects nearly 1,939 Chevrolet Corvette vehicles from 2014 model year. The problem is that a possible insufficient weld in the rear shocks may result in the fracture of the shock. These are new recalls by GM.
