Mercedes Recall: More Vehicles Affected by Takata Airbag Issue

Model-year 2014 Mercedes-Benz SLK and SL-Class roadster vehicles are affected by this new Mercedes recall. This is a small expansion of the Takata airbag recall due to which several well-known manufacturers have recalled certain models.

The recall is a voluntary one, affecting nearly 300 vehicles, 200 of which are already sold to the customers. The rest of the vehicles are still on dealer lots. It should be noted that according to the Mercedes-Benz spokesperson Donna Boland, the affected vehicles were all manufactured between March and April of this year.

The problem affecting all these vehicles is connected with the faulty airbags provided by the supplier Takata. The thing is that the airbag inflators may rupture during airbag deployment, causing lots of harm to the passengers of the vehicle. Mercedes found this fault during a production test and no injuries or crashes related to the problem have been reported about.

The automaker has informed the affected owners about the voluntary Mercedes recall. We will update this story as soon as there is something new about the recall.
